# AI Chat Board Filter

Choose a ticket or board scope for docked AI Chat, and filter chat history by board.

import { Aside, Tabs, TabItem } from '@astrojs/starlight/components';

Use the board filter in AI Chat to quickly focus on chats from one board, or view all chats across your boards. Set a default to start side by side.

## Docked AI chat scope

Use the scope menu in the docked AI chat to choose what the conversation is about:

- **Current board** — the default scope; focuses on the board you are viewing.
- **Current ticket** — available on a ticket page; focuses on that ticket's title, description, and comments. The scope stays on **Current board** until you choose **Current ticket**, and switches back to **Current board** when you leave the ticket.
- **Pinned boards** — choose a pinned board as the scope.
- **All boards** — includes all your accessible boards.

**Current ticket** is only available in the docked chat on a ticket page. The full-screen chat page is unchanged.

## When AI chat opens

The docked AI chat no longer opens by itself. It opens when you open it, and it stays where you left it as you move between tickets, boards, My Tasks and the inbox, on desktop and on your phone.

A closed chat stays closed when you create a task; an open one stays open. If you close it, a reload keeps it closed, and a tab where you left it open keeps it open.

**Settings > General > Task Page** no longer offers the three auto-open switches, because nothing opens on its own. The older **Keep AI chat closed always** and **Open AI chat by default** choices are gone with them.

## Board filter behavior

- **All boards** — shows every chat across all your accessible boards.
- **One board** — shows only chats from that board.
- Default is **All boards**, so all your chats appear by default when you open the chat.

<Aside type="tip">
Run /chat or switch to the Chat view to start a conversation. Then use the board filter above the chat list to switch between "All boards" and a specific board.

## Agent Chat sidebar status

When you open an agent chat with an agent that supports status visibility, the chat sidebar displays real-time per-agent status instead of a static green dot.

### Available status indicators

- **Active** — the agent is currently processing a task or message.
- **Idle** — the agent is idle but available, with an optional duration indicating how long it has been idle.
- **Idle with duration** — same as Idle, but explicitly shows the elapsed time (in minutes) since the last activity.
- **Out of tokens** — the agent has exhausted its token budget and cannot process further requests until refreshed.
- **Inactive** — the agent has been turned off or has no recent activity; it is not responding.

### How status changes are shown

- The status is computed server-side at request time and shown as text immediately next to the agent name.
- Changing from one status to another updates in real time without needing to refresh the page.
- If an agent is explicitly turned off, it always shows Inactive until you restore the agent or the chat session closes.

## Agent Chat auto-scroll behavior

Agent Chat automatically scrolls to the most recent messages as new content arrives, including queued and typing indicators, so you never miss updates during active conversations.

### Scrolling behavior

- When you are already at the bottom of the chat list and new messages arrive or queued statuses appear, the window follows them.
- If you scroll up to view earlier messages and new messages arrive, the scroll position stays where you left it until you scroll back down.
- When a new message appears while at the bottom, Chat immediately follows to keep the latest message in view.

<Aside type="tip">
This behavior applies across all supported channels and helps you stay aligned with agent progress without manually paging through the thread.
